In line with our previous communication, S.A.M.A.C. is firmly committed to sustainable practices. We prioritize environmental stewardship in every aspect of our operations, making it an integral part of our daily activities.

To solidify our commitment, we proudly joined the Leather Working Group (LWG) audit standard and achieved the highest possible rating: GOLD.

For those unfamiliar, the LWG is a non-profit membership organization established in 2005. Its mission is to drive positive change within the leather supply chain, ensuring responsible and sustainable practices for this valuable material.

This protocol assesses the environmental impact of an organization that deals with the production of leather also using subcontractors chosen for their excellence in some particular processing phases. The evaluation encompasses the entire production system, including both the commissioning party and subcontractors, using an approach similar to that for traditional leather manufacturers. It considers multiple aspects, including energy consumption and physical and documental traceability throughout the production chain.

For S.A.M.A.C., attaining the LWG Gold certification is a significant milestone. It goes beyond mere recognition and serves as tangible proof of our unwavering commitment to protecting the planet we call home.

We acknowledge that this journey was long and arduous, gradually transforming our own practices and those of our suppliers. However, we are confident that these efforts will become increasingly sustainable as awareness grows within the global leather industry.

Achieving the LWG Gold certification marks a crucial step in our sustainability journey, a commitment we will continue to pursue with dedication and perseverance.

The interest in the environment and sustainability is increasingly becoming our priority! Among the many steps that S.A.M.A.C. srl has decided to undertake in this direction there is the LWG certification: an acknowledgment that rewards companies in the leather manufacturing industry that manage their own business and control their supply chain with a view to protecting the environment, guaranteeing standards that exceed those required by law.

the Leather Working Group is a non-profit organization which since 2005 has been involved in assessing the environmental impact of leather production on a global scale, currently counting more than 1300 members.

LWG has developed a series of audit protocols to assess the environmental, social and governance impact of leather manufacturing facilities.
Over time, this commitment has extended to the entire leather supply chain: from the manufacturing industry to the producers of garments, footwear, accessories and furnishing coverings; from resellers who market semi-finished or finished leathers to large consumer distribution brands; from suppliers of chemicals and tests to manufacturers of machinery for the leather industry.

This non-profit organization aims to have a positive impact on the environment, as well as the community, by promoting:
-Greater traceability and transparency of the supply chain;
-Greater knowledge and access to data;
-Improved resource efficiency in leather production;
-Reduction of waste production and emissions into the environment;
-Improved chemical management and increased use of non-hazardous chemicals;
-Greater control over animal welfare and reduction of deforestation;
-Improvement of working conditions and fair treatment of workers.

With the “back to basics“ message, we want to make it clear that leather is actually a fitting example of a circular economy: a waste from the food industry which, instead of becoming waste, is reused and given new life.

The goal we share with LWG is precisely to improve the environmental impact of the leather supply chain globally, encouraging more and more companies to implement this important step, in the hope that it will become the general standard for the entire leather industry .

A new important event for the furniture world is upon us: INTERZUM international fair.

Interzum will take place in Cologne, Germany, from 9 to 12 May 2023 and will dictate new trends, new technologies and proposals for the furniture and interior design industry.

Storie di Pelle is not just a cardboard but it is a real new project that has involved us entirely, leading us to greatly enrich the quality and range of colors of genuine leather for furniture.

Here we present the first (Vol.1) of a series of catalogs designed to embrace the needs of specific sectors in which genuine leather is used.

In this 1st Volume you will find Home Interior sector: represented by Massif and Modena leathers.

A total of 108 colors, from the classics to the most fashionable ones, with the convenience to always find them available in our warehouses.

Storie Pelle vol.1 contains SAMAC’s commitment to researching and selecting only the best leathers, following the production carefully, step by step, in the factories of Arzignano (Vicenza), which has always been the beating heart of the production of leather for furniture, in Italy.

But that’s not all: we have in fact thought about the possibility of shaping this catalog in order to make it completely yours.

Here you will find two types of treatments that will allow you to fully enjoy your sofa, without having to worry about any stains that could get formed:

The FAST CLEAN treatment permits you to effortlessly fix domestic damages with just a few easy gestures.

1) Remove residual dirt with a cloth;
2) Pour a few drops of water and, in case of stubborn dirt, add neutral soap*;
3) Dab by making circular movements;
4) Wait for it to dry to continue enjoying relaxing moments on your favorite sofa!

*Absolutely avoid using invasive degreasers/products, as they can damage your sofa.

Another special treatment is the STAIN RESISTANT one, which makes your sofa resistant to any liquid.

In this case, just wipe the liquid accidentally onto your sofa, bed or armchair with a cloth.

In this season it is enough to look up to the sky to let yourself be conquered by the beneficial power of pink color, don’t you think?

For years now this color has gone beyond the boundaries of cuddling little girls’ bedrooms, managing to express its true character in much more popular environments than the home.

But let’s get back to us! The shades of pink that can be used in furniture are really numerous and, unlike many other colors, each of them is able to give a totally different character to the living:

• For example, we all know antique pink, thanks to the delicate gray veil that characterizes it, this shade manages to evoke a vintage, refined and timeless atmosphere.
• Pink quartz exploded in 2016 when the famous American company Pantone elected it color of the year with the code 13-1520 (Rose Quartz): it is known that from the world of fashion to the interior it is a short step, in fact this pastel shade manages to give peace and tranquility to the room;
• The candy pink is the most romantic and difficult of all but in order not to become banal, just dose it well and break it up with bolder colors such as red or, why not, blue;
• Peach, halfway between flesh pink and orange, is energizing and lively, able to illuminate any room without being cloying;
• Fucsia is dynamic and current because it is the color that dominates web pages and famous applications … highly frequented in recent times! It is a color that from the screen has managed to settle easily in the furnishing of domestic spaces because it gives energy and grit …

But which is the most popular pink? Without a doubt the powder pink: so soft and almost impalpable it is certainly the most used color in furniture because it is considered a real neutral color.

The high percentage of white makes it able to adapt easily to any style and therefore to be combined with many other colors.
If you decide to use pink in the living room, know that, regardless of the shade you prefer, it fits easily both on the walls and for the furnishings, it all lies in finding the right match:

In light shades of antique pink, quartz or powder, it goes very well with white and other pastel shades to obtain a relaxed or shabby look. If you have an old piece of furniture to pickle you have done bingo: whether it is a piece of furniture, a console or a bookcase, opt for pink and you will immediately feel the air of Provence!

To achieve perfect harmony you can combine pink with its complementary: sage green. The rule to obtain a balance is to never exceed the 80/20 proportion: so if you paint the walls pink you can add a green piece of furniture or vice versa!

Combined with teal, it gives the living room a sophisticated look that can be further enriched by inserting furniture with gold-colored accessories.

Together with black, pink is perfect for obtaining a hyper modern effect, the ideal is to alternate the two colors with geometric or floral textures that recall them both!

If you have a nice parquet at home, preferably dark brown, antique pink is certainly the color that can best enhance it.

The gray and dove make it extremely welcoming, perfect for decorating waiting rooms or relaxing receptions without sacrificing glamor!
